Youth Sector Careers
Working in the voluntary and community youth sector
The National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS) has created a Careers Guide: Highlighting Careers in the voluntary and community youth sector - aimed predominantly at young people considering working in what is in fact a very diverse sector and provides individuals with a vast array of job roles and opportunities.
One of the career areas on offer is youth work and NCVYS has also published information sheets entitled Introduction to youth work and getting started and Qualifications in youth work.
If as an employer you wish to support young people and show them what it is like to work in the sector, you may wish to host a school work experience placement. The UK Workforce Hub has launched a useful guide, Bright Futures, Positive Influence - Creating a successful work experience placement in the third sector.
What is 'JNC'?
The National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS) has put together a web page called 'Joint Negotiating Committee - What is it?'. This page explains what 'JNC' is and how it affects youth workers.
