Northamptonshire County Councils draft Community Asset Transfer Policy News

Published on Thursday 11th February by Tiffany Irons

Article The County Council owns property and land in Northamptonshire. At the present time there is no clear process of transferring assets to the third sector or community groups.

This policy will enable the council to transfer property and land that is no longer required to the third sector, where appropriate, to deliver local services in communities.

This policy will help the Council and communities by having a clear process of assessing;

• the suitability of a property for transfer,
• the benefits to the community
• and the capability of the organisation who wishes to manage the asset.

We are looking for your views on the Draft Policy. The consultation period will end on Fri 21st May 2010 with a view to presenting a final policy for Cabinet to consider in June or July 2010.

You can take part by returning the summary draft policy with your comments to me or by visiting the website where you will find a full version of the policy and an on-line form.

If you have any questions about the policy which need clarifying to enable you to respond to this consultation please contact:
